Vercel has made Cat Jam available through AI Gateway, free during its stealth period. The company describes it as a reasoning model for coding and agent tasks, with function calling to connect external tools and structured responses that follow a supplied JSON schema. The model accepts text only and supports five reasoning effort settings. Developers can access it through the AI SDK, OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions and Responses APIs, Anthropic-compatible Messages API and coding agents connected to AI Gateway. Zero Data Retention is unavailable, and prompts may be retained for safety reasons.
