Amazon Aurora adds direct queries across database and lake data

Amazon Aurora adds direct queries across database and lake data Image: Primary
Amazon made direct queries of Apache Iceberg and Parquet data available in Aurora PostgreSQL, allowing applications to combine records in an Aurora database with files held in a data lake. An embedded DuckDB engine reads the lake data through PostgreSQL queries, avoiding a pipeline that copies those records into Aurora. The feature is available in commercial AWS and AWS GovCloud (US) regions on supported Aurora PostgreSQL versions. AWS says there is no additional feature charge, but customers pay for extra Aurora compute and Amazon S3 requests. Fast queries can still require moving frequently used data into a native Aurora table.
