PyTorch announces native Trainium backend with public beta due October 20

PyTorch announces native Trainium backend with public beta due October 20 Image: Primary
PyTorch announced TorchNeuron, an open-source backend intended to let developers run standard PyTorch models and tools on AWS Trainium2 and Trainium3 chips. Its public beta is scheduled for October 20 under the Apache 2.0 license. The backend supports immediate execution for research and debugging, compiled execution for production, distributed training APIs and custom hardware kernels. It also integrates PyTorch's profiler with Neuron Explorer to trace performance bottlenecks from software to hardware. Code using PyTorch's device-agnostic accelerator API can run unmodified, PyTorch says. Adaptive eager execution remains experimental, while TorchAO and FP8 support are in private beta.
