Signature preprint reports higher blockchain throughput with less cryptographic computation

Researchers report that SILMARILS-MV, a signature scheme for permissioned blockchains, committed 2.8x more transactions per second than ML-DSA-44 with 67x less cryptographic CPU use in a Rust HotStuff prototype with 100 validators. The findings appear in an arXiv preprint. The scheme lets validators jointly issue keys without a trusted issuing authority and combine signatures into compact certificates. In a separate analytic model with 1000 validators, threshold notarization required 71 KiB of authentication traffic per validator per block, 22x less than ML-DSA-44 for admitted verifiers. Its key-issuance protocol requires fewer than one-third of validators to be corrupt.
