Banks and travel services restrict access by AI agents

JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab have confirmed that they block AI agents from accessing accounts over security concerns, The Verge reports. Delta Air Lines prevents agents from booking tickets for users, while Yelp allows only agents that pay for its data licensing program. The restrictions limit the tasks autonomous assistants can perform across commercial websites. Meta has partnered with retailers including Walmart, Gap, Sephora and Best Buy to let its Muse assistant shop on their sites, and Shopify has opened its storefront network to agents. Access agreements do not eliminate every obstacle: users have reported checkout problems at Walmart despite its Meta partnership, and agents can also trigger general anti-bot safeguards.
