AWS extends RDS Proxy support to SQL Server 2022 databases

AWS has added support for Amazon RDS databases running SQL Server 2022 to RDS Proxy, its managed service for pooling and sharing database connections between applications and databases. Applications can authenticate to the proxy through AWS Identity and Access Management, while the proxy manages database connections using credentials stored in AWS Secrets Manager. Users enable the service in the RDS console and point applications to its endpoint. For SQL Server databases configured across multiple availability zones, AWS says the proxy preserves application connections and automatically connects to the standby database during a failure, helping reduce failover times by up to 83%.
