Launching Health in ChatGPT

OpenAI launched Health in ChatGPT on July 23, 2026. The feature is rolling out to logged-in ChatGPT users 18 and older in the U.S. on web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. Users can securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records to help ChatGPT understand health information in context, track changes, and support more informed conversations. The experience builds on feedback from early testers and gives users control over what they connect and when ChatGPT can use it. Health conversations grounded in user information allow ChatGPT to consider medications, lab results, recent visits, sleep, and activity alongside user goals and context. This added context can make everyday conversations more useful, such as considering dietary restrictions when choosing a restaurant or recent injuries when planning activities. Health, in the left sidebar, remains the home base for connecting and managing information, seeing recent data and trends, exploring suggested prompts, browsing synced records, and returning to past health conversations. OpenAI is improving health intelligence with physicians, using dedicated training to enhance models behind health conversations. GPT-5.5 Instant, available to Free plan users, has made gains in recognizing when urgent care may be needed, asking for relevant context, explaining uncertainty, and making complex information easier to understand. GPT-5.6 Sol, available to paid users, is the strongest model yet for health, with stronger performance on tasks requiring reasoning across complex details, clear communication, and careful judgment. Physicians extensively tested Health in ChatGPT before release to measure and improve real-world model performance and safety with connected health data. OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT can still make mistakes and does not replace the care and judgment of qualified medical professionals.
