OpenAI introduces $100 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription tier

OpenAI introduces $100 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription tier Image: Primary
OpenAI has added a $100 per month subscription option for ChatGPT, filling the gap between its existing $20 Plus plan and the $200 Pro tier. The new tier, announced Thursday, targets power users who have requested a mid-range option between the entry-level and premium offerings. The $200 Pro plan, which includes access to the Codex programming agent and other advanced features, represented a significant jump in price from the $20 tier. OpenAI has not specified which features are included in the $100 tier relative to the other plans. The company has been experimenting with various pricing models as it seeks to convert its large user base into paying customers while managing the substantial computational costs of running large language models. The pricing structure reflects the broader challenge facing AI companies in balancing accessibility with the need to generate revenue to cover training and inference costs. OpenAI has previously introduced usage-based pricing for developers through its API, and has tested higher-priced tiers for consumers with specialized needs. The $100 tier is available immediately to new and existing subscribers.
