Navy tests missile-equipped Saildrone in Pacific exercise
Image: Primary The U.S. Navy tested a Saildrone Surveyor SD-3001 unmanned surface vessel firing two Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles during the RIMPAC 2026 exercise, according to the report. The sail-powered vessel operated with the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group through the Navy's Adjunct Remote Engagement System. The exercise also tested the drone's passive electronic-warfare role: its sensors worked with an MH-60S helicopter to detect, classify and identify a surrogate threat. Saildrone and Lockheed Martin began the integration project in October 2025.
