Chinese Firms Leave Nvidia for Local AI Suppliers, Survey Shows

Chinese companies are shifting their spending on AI accelerators toward domestic suppliers and away from Nvidia Corp. products, according to a Bloomberg Intelligence survey released Tuesday. Executives in China said they plan to allocate 46 per cent of their budgets for AI accelerators to domestic products over the next 12 months. That figure is up from 30 per cent today. The survey found that Nvidia products remain popular but its market share is expected to shrink as its H20 chips become harder to find and local suppliers take over. Tencent Holdings Ltd., Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Huawei Technologies Co. are among the companies best positioned to benefit from the shift. The survey was reported by Bloomberg and mirrored in outlets including The Business Times and The Edge Malaysia. Chinese companies are ditching Nvidia Corp.s advanced accelerators in favor of domestic silicon, the report said, as tensions with the US reshape AI infrastructure plans.
