Uber has agreed to acquire workplace catering platform ezCater for $2.3 billion in cash, MoneyCheck reported. Uber plans to integrate ezCater's catering infrastructure into Uber Eats and Uber for Business, expanding its corporate meal services and group ordering business. ezCater connects businesses with more than 140,000 U.S. restaurant locations and generated more than $2.5 billion in gross bookings over the last twelve months. Its orders average more than $400, which Uber expects will help improve delivery margins. Uber anticipates closing the acquisition in the coming months, subject to regulatory clearance and customary closing requirements.
