ENGIE confirmed that attackers stole French customers' data through a marketing platform used by its business partners, BleepingComputer reported. The energy company said it cut off the attackers' access, notified authorities and contacted affected customers. Breach notification letters listed names, mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, energy delivery or metering identifiers, customer IDs and contract numbers among the exposed information. ENGIE said its internal IT systems were not compromised and no banking data was affected. The company did not disclose how many customers were affected and warned recipients to take precautions against fraud or phishing.
