Google Renames NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook; Rolls Out New Connected Apps in AI Mode, Gemini Omni in Vids

Gemini Notebook Image: Primary
Google announced it is renaming its NotebookLM tool to Gemini Notebook and rolling out new connected apps in AI Mode including Canva, YouTube Music and Instacart. The company also introduced Gemini Omni and personal avatars in Google Vids. Google said Gemini Notebook remains a standalone research tool but will now do more across the Google ecosystem including inside the Gemini App and Google Search. An update gives every notebook a secure cloud computer allowing Gemini Notebook to write and execute code natively for complex data analysis. This is available today for Google AI Ultra users and Workspace business customers with AI Ultra Access and AI Expanded Access and will roll out to all Pro users on the web over the coming weeks. Google reiterated that users can already access and create notebooks within the Gemini app with full cross-app syncing and soon notebooks will come to AI Mode in Search. New connected apps in AI Mode let users add ingredients to an Instacart cart, view Canva template options and curate playlists saved to YouTube Music. Google plans to add more apps. Gemini Omni in Vids lets users create and edit videos by describing what they want and supports step-by-step edits. Personal avatars can be created from a selfie and voice recording. Google confirmed every generated clip includes an invisible SynthID digital watermark. Gemini Omni and personal avatars are available for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and Workspace business customers. Access to personal avatars is limited to users in certain regions who are 18 or older.
